Not that much impact on good writers or artists. A few might show or
admit influence. Most wouldn't be caught dead. It's more second raters
who would pick up his tricks. (and they are good tricks)
P's had his greatest impact on the Pynchon Industry--people who maintain
their professional status by writing about him. That enterprise is
necessarily in decline for the moment but may revive when the new novel
comes out.
Pynchon's has had a great deal of impact on a few p-listers. And--as
Aldous Huxley wrote at the end of Point Counter Point--Such is the
Kingdom of Heaven.
