I think that one reason why Pynchon provided a blurb for that novel might
have been to try and show that the characterisation of Bill Gray wasn't a
reflection on him.

I think _Libra_ might prove to be the greater achievement, but _White Noise_
is right up there. _Running Dog_ is underrated.
