That gnostics believe in an evil world or creator;
or that gnostics are heretical, even Satanic, are
possible attributes, but not a taxonomical branch.

Gnostic (knowing) is opposite to pistic (faithful).

The individual gnostic *knows* (not to be confused
with mere congregations wrongly soi-disant gnostic)
whereas the pistic heard and believed, not knowing:
like the difference in French savoir and connaitre.

I say an individual gnostic has had "direct gnosis".
It is the event of Kant's transcendental idealism.
It is non-intuitive (not led in through the senses).
Is is a priori (preceeding , not upon, experience).
It is synthetic (non-analytic, not derivable).
I forgot the noun I want: judgment/insight/idea?

Absent these, you only have discursive accounts of
such experiencers, but sufficient to warrant faith.

Gnosticism was only politically caused to be heresy
because the pistics beat them out at Constantinople.

The event, the avatar, the Christ, must have gnosis.
Yet Jesus told Thomas, blessed are they that have NOT
seen, and yet believed; And Moses hid the experience
in arcana; and Paul, clearly gnostic, when he stopped
overtly killing the Christians, poisoned the doctrine
by filling it up with his opposition to this arising.

Now I posit that (perhaps with qualifications) either
autofellatio or autocunnilingus triggers this event,
the essential katabasis, psychosis, melancholia, as
exhibited in Kierkegaard, Dickinson, Baudelaire, etc.
and I try to show how works of some poets and prophets
exhibit figures, metaphors, icons of this act and of
the gnosis discerned. Such evidence I find in Pynchon.
