I'm far from defending communism, as Rob has pointed out there are clear
indications that P. is fully aware of the non-democratic situation for
example in Uncle Ho's North Vietnam. And during the Chicago-events the New
Left in 1968 critisized the Warszaw Pact for invading the CSSR and
destroying the Prague Spring.

But given the fact that North Vietnam was carpet-bombed at that time I don't
think that the assertion that (only) communism was the agent of p. & v.
doesn't hold water. I do agree more to the point of view that is expressed
in the "Slow Learner"-Intro where there's no difference being made between
Eastern and Western leaders.

Back to the text: Rex doesn't get the gun from the Brothers but from Brock
Vond via Frenesi. Vond knows that he needs a fanatic to get his plans worked
out.
