VLVL Vond in love

I don't pretend to be a psychologist, but from what I've experienced and
read about control freaks is that they are not in love with other people;
they are in love with their ability to make other people do their
bidding.  Is there a more classic control freak in Vineland than Brock
Vond?  

On page 69, in response to reports of Vond's depression due to his loss
of control over Frenesi, all Frenesi can say is "What a wacko."  After
she is freed from his charismatic control, she feels not a whit of 
sentiment for him, no sympathy, no desire, no NOTHING!
