"Gravity's Rainbow"...
...is the title of a short blurb in this month's Geophysics section of National Geographic magazine. The article describes the identification and mapping of subtle variations in the earth's magnetic field. An example of this is addressed in M&D; as Mason is trained to account for the magnetic "pull" of geographic entities such as mountains in his calculations. Might the article's author be a fan? I think I will ask Pat Benatar.
...and while we're on the subject of a small world....with regards to the recent posts concerning Mark Rudd...he is indeed alive and well, living and teaching in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I see him at a history class we both attend, and I shall share with him his newly rediscovered "notoriety" on the P-List ("celebrity" evidently being quite antithetical to issues pynchonian).
truly,
ruud
