I don't insist on it, but I don't rejcet it out of
hand, eiether, esp. given the ever-increasing length
of time that apparently no one in Pycnhon's camp has
objected to their publication under his name.  But my
point is, it's such a weird detail that it's not
likely to have been conjured out of thin air.  Tim's
translation seems to indicate further that somewhere
in there are Japanese words for "rodeo" and "clown,"
even, or the English ones translitterated in Japanese,
at any rate.  And rodeo clowns are strawmen ...
