I reckon here the problem is the indeterminacy of some reader's
readings. Anyway, I see no point in going on with this discussion.
Let's remain indeterminate, I've got more interesting things to do.
Other list members have enough elements to make up their mind on this
point. I just wish to point out to you that your reading is much more
determined and univocal than mine, and that you've read a 1997 novel
by Pynchon as if it were a 1897 novel by Thomas Hardy. Who's
anachronistic here?
Last but not least, I do not think that you can afford such a
smartassic tone in your messages. You didn't discover postmodernism,
son. And the only thing that may cause angst in me is the idea that
they might have appointed Letizia Moratti as our secretary of economy-
-but these are internal affairs, and a totally offtopic matter.
