It's amazing how personally nasty some people on this list can be.
>pynchonoid:
>Why blame Pynchon for your inability to appreciate

>enjoying it along with the rest of his work.
>MalignD:

>your dopey comment.
Well, it's not worth very much, other than to show the rest of us that you
have a considerably
more extensive knowledge of Ms Collins's oeuvre than I do. But I'm sure even
you realise that it's not a valid analogy: quite a lot of Pynchon fans
regard Vineland as weak, ie. it's seen as a low point in an otherwise
illustrious career. Whereas any Jackie Collins book is just another piece of
trash fiction.
>I don't appreciate Vineland much because, like Ghetta
>here, I think it's not very good. If that's blaming
>Pynchon, well: he wrote the fucking thing.
I would argue that you don't think Vineland is very good because you don't
appreciate it. That's what 'appreciate'
means in this context.

>MalignD is pure dietary fiber....distilled rhetoric....
>my hero...
When I think of 'dietary fibre' I think of what it turns into.
Anyway, all the foregoing is par for the course. But then this:
>MalignD:
>> <<my hero...>>
>>
>You wouldn't say that if you'd been around back when I was pathetically,
>shamelessly carrying on like an old wanker, trying to seduce Millison's
lad.
Ha ha. You're obviously very pleased with yourself. There's a lot of abuse
flung around on this list, most of it
in Doug's direction. Why he bothers any more I don't know. But this, even
for 'MalignD', is a new low. That unpleasant, vaguely creepy episode where
you emailed Doug's kid was bad enough, but you clearly enjoyed it enough to
want to bring it up again. Doug never accused you of trying to 'seduce' his
son, so to invent such a thing can only reflect upon you.
You truly are a revolting person.
