I felt the same way as you, up to the "chore" part. After a while, I began
to grow weary of the receptiveness of the story. It seemed to me the same
thing again and again and again. While there is some truly wonderful things
in "Don Quixote," I can't help but think the overall work be twice as better
if it were half as long.

In short, I respected and admired the book more than I actually enjoyed it.
