I disagree with your assessment of "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and
Clay". I got a kick out of it. It's not a masterpiece, but it ain't "Hunt
for Red October" or "The Firm" either. By the way, there is now a comic book
series called "The Escapist" based on the mags in the novel. Luna Moth is a
character. Meta-comics? Not that I'm the comic book store guy in the
Simpsons or anything, but I do know him.
Is your friend now former because he recommended the Chabon book to you?
