a few comments:

the new jazz times has an article on bjork that mentions her affinity for spike 
jones. how does bjork fare on this list? i've only heard one 
track, "submarine," from her new album, medulla. that track features the god-
like robert wyatt and, like the rest of the album is a cappella. (not meaning 
that it sounds like the nylons or the bobs, though!)

spent way too much time today reading about the english psychologist cyril burt 
who is alleged to have credited some of his later research to fictitious 
assistants. 

i'm still kinda confused on pynchon's relation to eugenics. a casual interest 
of his or something he studied deeply? there's vineland and it's easy enough 
for me to jump from the name Stoddard Lothrop to Slothrop....
