Very interesting interview. A few years ago, I got to read in a french
magazine a text by one of the persons who worked on Mason & Dixon's
translation. He mentioned faxing TRP on a couple of occasions, adding
that he felt Pynchon was "watching" closely, although his main
indication to the translators was "have as much fun as I did". The
translator is named Christophe Claro, he did the french versions of "The
sot-weed factor", "Agapé Agape", "House of leaves". He did a pretty good
job, especially if you compare his work to that of the guy who
translated GR, Col49 or V (incredibly bad).
