I seem to remember that the reference was to some passages of GR rather
than GR in toto and he said he didn't know what he was getting at.
Assuming 'fucked up' refers to being excessively stoned, the assertion is
not so unlikely.
There are passages of GR which do come on like TP was in that thoroughly
ripped and rhapsodic state where multitudes of threads have a pattern which
one desperately tries to describe - but the multiple layers of the pattern
are so difficult to express in the linearity of speech or sentences that
you end up tripping over your tongue.
If TP did say what Jules said he did he could have been being honest or
self deprecatingly admitting he was winging it somewhat.
