See, that's just the kind of book I want to write.

I have my twenty-five years of research.

I pull together such diverse threads...

My uncautious thesis is at least maddening.

...author enmeshed in a labyrinthine task.--That's me!


But I would present it from the pole opposite this:
...the premise that there is a Satanic undercurrent
...a world of clues and indications to support
...uneasy possibility that the Devil could conceivably also
be a part of our ongoing and inexplicable American history.


He's coming from today's "scientific" or "enlightenment"
position based on Cartesian doubt. Therein, all reports
of numinous experience cannot be repeated by experiment,
and must be discarded, as fringe data, does-not-compute.

I believe I have found one scripture that disparages the
scientific method, which was not to appear till, ~ 1600?

Despite I have heard this section taken out of context
as exhortation on how to teach/learn/use the word of God,
I see the tone of this as deprecating our modern methods
of the gradual accretion of trusty knowledge by doubting.

Isaiah
28:7 But they also have erred through wine,
and through strong drink are out of the way;
the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink,
they are swallowed up of wine,
they are out of the way through strong drink;
they err in vision,
they stumble in judgment.

28:8 For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness,
so that there is no place clean.

28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge?
and whom shall he make to understand doctrine?
them that are weaned from the milk,
and drawn from the breasts.

28:10 For precept must be upon precept,
precept upon precept;
line upon line,
line upon line;
here a little,
and there a little:

28:11 For with stammering lips and another tongue
will he speak to this people.

28:12 To whom he said,
This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest;

which advertised such great things, but the continual
sneer of a pedant parroting facts that he has put on
as a garment, exteriority, not put in to his essence;
That was another book too disheartening to even read.

and instructed me that I should not walk in the way
of this people, saying,

A confederacy,
to all them to whom this people shall say,
A confederacy;
neither fear ye their fear,
nor be afraid.

Where he finds conspiracy, I'll find abject fellows.

Where he turns up no evidence, I've had direct gnosis.
The rules of science assiduously exclude such gnosis,
guaranteeing that those seeking in science will fail.

When he will propose biological implants, I've already
received my mark in the palm, a pair of red sun-signs,
appearing and fading as a result of tantra and prayer.

Where he assembles UFO stories, I've has a UFO-like
epiphany, a shining-out of God, answering in the sky.

While his methods will never de-center himself from
his perceived throne, I'm waiting for Jesus to come!

Golly, I sound like one o' them-there bible-thumpers.
