Cloud Atlas Chap. 1

I was caught sleeping about the coconut-brain-worm,
and no doubt many other symbols, but let me read-in
autofellatio upon Ewing's fall amongst dendrographs:

"Ewing." Can't say it without shaping "ewe", a lamb.

We have a mysterious crater, not unlike E.A.Poe's many
pits and malestroms, and representative of the mouth,
a yawning cavern in the Atlas position--neck to earth.

He is alone, as is (had been?) typical of a masturbator.

At first he seems securely on the brim--a little oral
stimulation, but is precipitated therein-ejaculation.

It is his katabasis, a fall of metanoia/metamorphois.

He discovers, and is terrified by, information.
I label such a matter the direct gnosis of God.

He encounters a heart pierced by a branch, again the
type of mouth pierced by penis, the tree of Golgatha.

He probes it with a stick, which could be because his
mimicry with his penis/stick has attained unity with
a central one, a Jesus, a Buddha, any God-man of myth.

It seems alive, and is "coming" that is, emits worms,
reminiscent of the mass of fly larvae in Baudilaire's
Carrion. The trees remind me of one of Dante's levels,
wherein souls flew down and immediately became trees.

He finds an established path of footholds to leave the
crater, which is 1) record of the esoteric left behind
in exoteric religion; and 2) record of the esoteric in
metaphoric consistency across such occasional poets.

Now in the native found under the hawsers, we have a
type of the Holy Spirit. Recall, he was fastened and
beaten; He also looked at Ewing, he chose him, or at
least, he found in him a sympathetic type, a similar.

He appears under a coiled rope, a type of a serpent,
a type of penis. He appears in Ewing's cabin out of
nowhere; He puts on garments of Ewing's. He is alien
to a worldly Ewing, putting Ewing himself at odds with
the world, but then proves great prowess when tested.

Moreover, he was hidden there by the preacher!

That's all I remember, not having again picked up
that 'frigid' book. But I got 39 hours of sleep on
Saturday, so maybe tonight's its night.

Yours truly,
