Hi, I participated a little on this list a ways back (2000/2001), and it's
fun to read your postings again. I just wanted to let you know that I've
written a piece on Candida Donadio, who was Pynchon's agent from the sixties
to the early eighties. Among the people I interviewed were Robert Stone,
Robert Gottlieb, and Cork Smith, Pynchon's first editor, whom I met shortly
before he died last November.

The profile is in the current issue of Tin House - it's not online, but
there's some info about the journal at tinhouse.com. I was fortunate to get
lots of great material about Donadio, who was probably the most gifted agent
of the 20th century. If you come across the piece, I hope you enjoy it.

On another note, all the talk of barbarians made me think of J.M. Coetzee's
"Waiting for the Barbarians." Incredible book, and chilling how much it
resonates with what's happening in the U.S. right now.

Thanks & warm regards,

Karen Hudes
