Cometman suggested:
> There might be a quartering (creating a cross: in hoc signo vinces),
> looking at 1,1 and 1,2 as a block (or circle), 4 quadrants: Dream,
> Garden, Breakfast, Ride
> Internal private subjective reality
> External public objective reality
I am spending my mornings surfing, reading on computational linguistics
to boost my surf tool (Information Retrieval) to Information Extraction.
N.B. You must get linear algebra (vector math) to compete in this field!
A great overview of many ideas I've encountered, in French, is this one:
http://www-leibniz.imag.fr/LesCahiers/2OOO/Cahier14/CLLeib14.pdf
Le modèle vectoriel pour le traitement de documents
The P list doing a group read operates kind of like these automata:
We attempt to "cluster" related P ideas, given our world knowledge.
A salient point of the PDF above, was that domain expertise is needed
in order to establish just what "features" to value, and weight them.
I think it would be great if we could throw up some categorization
schemes that we personally value to feed the group imagination !!!
For example, Cometman's cross idea above suggested easily to me:
(hard, soft) x (public, private)
Even more reductive than a cross would be simple yin/yang duality.
When I was taught linear algebra, I remember a great emphasis on
the "independence" of each axis of the space: All that you might
add of X has nothing to do with the Y value. But then I remember
my physics class, and the continuous "acceleration" in revolution
of a wheel, and the intimate relation of sine and cosine, as in
the use of a sin/cos pair of waveforms in DCT spectral analysis.
Now the four horses of Revelation (white, red, black, and GREEN),
when I blew myself through the engine cylinder I was rebuilding,
suggested to me the four engine phases (which actually requires
two complete revolutions), or four quadrants of one revolution.
In terms of spectra and vision, white and black seem to lie on
one axis, of intensity; while the ideas of red and green would
be orthogonal to power, descriptions of spectral distributions
of floods of photons. They could be on a cross, as sine/cosine
pairs, like kinetic/potential energy alternating in a pendulum.
One of the keys to poetics, I say, is to recover the taboo ideas
of auto-erotics: autofellatio informs the ontology of both poets
and avatars. Staying keen on these sexual bases, I recognize the
pointing tramp, treated as if an "other" in GR, is his own penis.
How do we consider gender? Yin/yang duality naively suggests the
male and female are opposites. Yet a physical androgyne suggests
they are two different axes, though perhaps not very independent.
My pan-like male pap self-suckling led me to believe that I had
a Tiresias-like female experience, at least, of symbolic import.
We certainly have the Cartesian split of I / other, the Kantian
refinement of a phenomenon (in mind) versus noumenon (in world)
as not causally related. We have the three Freudian orifices of
anal, oral, and genital; and duality of pleasure / death drives.
There is the (D&G anti-oedipus?) production of flows (e.g, milk,
shit), and the cutting-off from the continuous stream of flows.
There is the Unix spawning of a new execution process (a fork),
and there are both asexual and sexual reproduction to consider.
There is the possibility of God, and an overlay of a judgment.
There is the MMPI, and Jung's 4x2 types, and 9 in the Ennead.
I keep trying to map all things onto the seven-fold nature of
things in Revelation, and suspect it derives from an excluded,
judged, eighth (the Jewish heptad from the Egyptian ogdoad).
Phase changes: ice/water/steam; and sand/glass carbon/diamond.
There is wealth, and the Proletariat versus the Bourgeoisie.
Representation-- semiotic signs, sigils, icons and fetishes.
Aristotelian logic, QED axioms and theorems versus induction
and abduction, the scientfic method, enlightenment, mutual
exclusion of objects in space, individual versus collective,
increase of entropy in thermodynamics, wave/partical duality,
taxonomies of classification, valuation, decision to decide,
garbage information, communications theory, chaotic systems,
truth, naught, sin, transgression, the vessel that contains
its own destruciton the record that destroys the phonograph,
coding, time-space separation (x2+y2+z2=t2), boundaries,
self-intersection, reflection and recursion, etc.
And then, there is Pynchon...
Yours truly,
