"amused" was not the reaction here, pity was more like it, 'miskine'.
"amused" seems to be an inappropriate response, but conditioning can

On the sister island, Gozo, many people actually leave their keys in the
door when they go out - on purpose. Everybody gotta have some kinda 'culture'
I guess.
