exactly -- that was the point I was trying to make. The Evacuation is a
different kind of event from taking a piss. It's much more important, and
more meaningful. That's what I meant by saying I think shit is "elect" in
_GR_ ... and that piss isn't.

Anyway, given the death/shit/preterite theme throughout the book it's hard
for me to ignore the multiple meanings of "evacuation" when the word appears
right there on the first page, as well as the particularly intestinal paths
of the evacuees. Obviously, this is a real evacuation (indeed, as you point
out, it is "The Evacuation" -- as if there could only be one). But we know
they are many, repeated.
