Genocide, in general and the Holocaust, in specific, personalized the War in 
a way, it seems to me, that just a mere attempt at World Domination does 
not.  Thinking about the fact that say, the vast millions of Russians killed 
during the War does not carry the emotional impact, for some, that knowing 
that millions of Jews, gays, handicapped, etc. foax does.  This is not to 
say that the deaths of all those Russians is not as "important" or as 
"devastating" as any other group of casualties, but that there is something 
inherently more sinister in targeting specific groups of foax.  The Russians 
were casualties, the Jews et al were specifically targeted.
