Dear Paul,
I'd like to offer you my most sincere gratitude for your post of the other
day. I believe that your idea is not merely sound, but can greatly enrich
the Pynchon List as a whole. In fact, already Doug and jbor have ceased
their flame war, and I believe Dave has vowed to stop wolfing down little
baby seals. I can hardly wait for our first reading of "Against the Day,"
which I understand will be all about the institutionalized slaughter of sexy
Japanese Playboy Bunnies. I only hope that you will participate!
I just wanted to take a little time to pen this note, just so you realize
how appreciate you are. Your gesture of kindness will live on in my heart
for as long as I draw breath.
Yours truly,
--The Great Quail
