A timely offer, just when some folks start showing a
little excitement and interest re Vineland.

Every party needs a pooper:

Funny, speaking of hypocrisy, jbor was right in there
with us on the group reading of Vineland, and while
it's quite possible, all too possible in fact, that I
could be wrong, I just don't recall such a
consistently negative attitude towards Vineland,
which, jbor helped the rest of us demonstrate, is a
richly layered, artistically complex and satisfying
work, integrated tightly at many levels with Pynchon's
other novels, of a piece with his oeuvre.

My take: In the future, literary critics will revisit
Vineland, Mason & Dixon, Against the Day, and the
stories, and at that future moment it will become
clear these are masterpieces that were not fully
understood in their day. By the time I turn 100.
