I actually asked myself that as well.  God only knows.
 Well, Him (sic) and Pynchon.  IF this isn't a hoax at
some level or another (another question to ask, would
Moore himself attempt such a thing?  Which is why I
went searching for any scrap I could find to attribute
that to some other book, but ... well, not
everything's online, so ...), one would at least THINK
Penguin'd have to consult Pynchon about it.  And then
it's a matter of whim ...
