eGad: Pynchon excerpt from new novel

Well, I'm still working on the assumption that this whole thing is a
joke, and that this 'Steven Moore' person is currently having a good old
laugh at our expense. If it is a genuine excerpt then it's highly odd on
a number of levels. Leaving aside the style - and whether it's a 'novel
within a novel' or other such parody or skit - it seems a very short
excerpt, and surely an odd choice to present to the world?

Why you little... Heh heh. It's fairly common these days for longish
excerpts to be made available prior to publication, though whether you
could reasonably expect one in the case of a Pynchon book is another
matter. And these are often first chapters, so that would make sense. 

But still, this can't be a real passage from the book, can it?  I'm sure
we'll know for certain soon enough...
