eGad: Pynchon excerpt from new novel

Is that excerpt, or that blrb, or the title, or
.... going to keep any of you from reading the damn
thing?

With Pynchon it's more likely that obscure language and evocation of 
recondite knowledge is liable to keep the reader from comprehending the damn 
thing! (Even this small excerpt made me wrack my brain over pinkinroller and 
lilywhites)

BTW, for me personally, the most hard-to-understand Pynchon novel was 
Vineland. I know zilch about all those culture specific items (especially 
American TV of the period) he kept me bombarding with. Need to re-read it 
some day with a good reader's guide.
