Pynchon on Simpsons

The thing I find surprising about his appearance on the Simpsons (aside from the obvious surprise that he'd do it at all) is his voice. He's retained a very strong Long Island accent (unless he's just exaggerating for the show) after spending most of his adult life in areas or circles which should have helped diminish the accent.

Haven't seen the second visitation online (yet), but as I recall the joke consisted of TRP using the titles of his books top describe some food being served at a party. Starts out with Marge askin' "Whatda ya think?" Anyone desiring to correct/castigate/expand and deconstruct as regards my knowledge on this subject is cordially invited.
