another reason to dislike Banville

I've read 'Water Music' and found it entertaining and funny in some places, 
and very useful in terms of building a vocabulary of obscure and rare words 
(acromegalic, hyetologist, styptic). Still T.C. Boyle, in my view, is a 
minor satellite in the universe of contemporary American literature.
