I know they are, but you seemed to be comparing them in 'cultural value' 
terms.

Dylan's, what, 43rd studio album, against Pynchon's 6th novel? No contest, 
I'd rather have the Pynchon, of course. But there's nothing worse than 
someone playing the higher artier than thou card.

I'm looking forward to Bob's new record, but I'm far more excited about 
Pynchon's new book.
