elroy was invented by robert crumb--donkey-dicking his way thru ghastly
murder scenes, stroking himself, high on speed, in inumerable LA flophouses
white jazz is just way too funny but we are talking about the LAPD here;
actually looking fwd to black dahlia film--of course, there's True
Confessions and LA Confidential--duval and crowe respectively are great
see the doc on ellroy--he appeared un announced at the theater in NYC I saw
it in w/ a friend when it came out
ellroy is a barker, nothing else
but he does know seedy LA pretty well
