ATD SP0ILER pp. 182-183

This will bear close re-reading to untangle, but
whatever weird substition thing that Pynchon seems to
have going on here, where somehow dynamite "displaces"
 (I hesitate to say "equals" - not sure what
terminology to use, in fact) LSD, is intriguing.

At one level, perhaps it's as simple as comparing the
overwhelming "blast" that LSD provides, propelling the
subject into strange new spaces with a life-changing
death-and-rebirth experience.  But, I suspect there's
something else going on here that untangling Pynchon's
"second-story" (references and allusions within the
text) will reveal.
