I'm interested in the premise that a group read on a listserv might be the first draft of literary criticism.  I think periodicals might still be the first draft, while a listserv like this might be the hollering from the peanut gallery.  After all, we've been reading and responding to the print reviews here.  Whether the folks participating in the group read represent a second draft depends on whether we're just talking to ourselves.  It's an intriguing concept, though.

(And since I'm new here and don't anticipate posting often, I hereby give my consent....)
