Flashman

Hey all--

I've begun reading George MacDonald Fraser's Flashman novels--quite an
irreverent look at the 19th century from one who seems to appear at major
historical events.  Flashman is a rogue and a cad--sexist, racist, elitist,
womanizer, drunkard, liar, coward but Fraser is such a great writer that you
almost like the guy at times.

gonna take a crack again at the Neal Stephenson trio of novels soon after
while waiting for Pynchon to get off his duff and give us a book  ;)

in any case the flashman set is recommended
