He has a very friendly relationship with Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago.  
I've worked there and, were I DeLillo, I'd cultivate the relationship for all it 
was worth.  Very talented people at Steppenwolf.  And writing a play for them 
-- ninety pages, then work with Gary Sinese, John Malkovich, John Mahoney, 
Laurie Metcalf, Joan Allen et al -- versus sitting in a room for two years 
cranking out a novel (in his sixties).  I know what I'd choose.
