Pynchon vs. Pynchon/bashing reviewers

Big Bird's review doesn't suck. He says up front that
he's basing it on the part of the novel he's read, and
if you don't already know it's easy enough to know
that he has enough background with Pynchon to do a
good job of putting it perspective even on this
limited basis. If all reviewers were so honest, I
doubt there'd be much fuss about them here.

Mr. Pollock, with all due respect, doesn't seem to me
to understand very clearly the cross-section of people
in Pynchon-l or the role that this discussion often
plays relative to the critical discussions that some
of us also help to facilitate elsewhere - Pynchon
Notes, pynchonwiki, Modern Word, etc. So, you might
even say, here's a Pynchon-l reviewer who hasn't done
his homework, making overarching statements about the
p-list & etc. But that's OK, if he sticks around he
might have a chance to discover some of the other
stuff that happens in and around this space.
