Celebratory gathering of the Chicago-area Pyn-heads went well on this, the release date for Against The Day.  A group of P readers met at Celtic Crossings, where listers Tim Strzechowski and Dave Monroe presided over enjoyable pints of Bass Ale and chat re: all things Pynchon, movies, Melville, sci-fi, etc.  Special guest appearances by Gary Millman, independent P scholar from the Newberry Library, and a phone call from Michel Ryckx from Europe around 8:20 p.m. (central time).  Wonderful conversation, great company, and everyone is/was pumped for reading the new novel!

Hope the other release-date gatherings went as well!
