Sorry for being nitpicky, but it's perhaps a bit of a misfire to use the
word 'elfin' to describe Miss Penelope Black (p. 18), right after using it
to describe Darby (p. 7). One can attempt to justify the double usage by
saying either a) Darby and Penelope are both little elfin lovers or
something or b) the reusing of such adjectives may have been common in the
genre Pynchon is reworking.. Still, in such a rich opening tapestry it felt
a tad limited.
