Just so no one forgets, she gave a glowing review of Mason and Dixon when it came out. She is not the only reviewer who has given Pynchon a good review in the past but given ATD a bad review... and some of the bad reviews have been fair and even tempered.

Vineland also got a mixed reaction when it came out, yet it doesn't mean that it is a bad book per se, just one with a few more difficulties for the average reader.

Perhaps ATD is similar. Does that mean that anyone who is critical of it is a Pynchon basher, or that anyone who likes it is a Pynchon idolizer?

Of course not.

Michiko Kakutani is a tasteless ass. But it is typical of you to use her as
a the umbrella under which to hide every other disagreeing review.

And of course the Pynchon list isn't wholly uncritical of Pynchon. YOU are
and you can't abide those who feel diffferently.
