"Fanculo" being a contracted idiomatic (Southern? Sicilian? It's
pretty common just about everywhere at this point) usage (the "lo" is a
reflexive pronoun). The "real" verb is "fotere" and "vaffanculo" may
be a contraction of "vai a far'ti fotere". "Vai" from "andare", "to go";
"fare", "to do" or "to make"; "ti" reflexive use with fare of second
person singular pronoun; fotere as above... whole thing means, in
literal translation, "go and get yourself a fuck (from yourself)."
