Hadn't meant to knock the wiki--and I know that it can be edited and
re-edited-- so it is a tool that will grow in usefulness--however,
I__prefer__ discussion, especially when conjecture is
involved---case in point pg 95 as discussed or pg 123 --where I am
accorded a reference, based on a very off-hand and tongue in cheek
comment thrown into a discussion of puns on politicians names--I
know very little Russian--enough to know that Tovarishchi = Comrade,
and read the other word to sound like Slut Cheney and so took it it
to be a play on the Friends of Bill type-cabals often thought to be
responsible for a certain type of global mischief---it was a comment
that really only worked in the context of the discussion --wasn't
meant to become a reference...and since I'm not comfortable enough
with the wiki technology or etiquette I don't want to have go
explaining myself -out of context, or deleting something that
    someone else thought was important...

*Pyncho Wiki Pg 121 Tovarishchi Slutchainyi* Translates as Comrades of
Cheney (according to Ande on Pynchon-L) "...notorious for promoting
wherever in the world they choose a program of mischief..."

The literal translation of "Slutchainyi" is "accidental". So that the
phrase "Tovarishchi Slutchainyi" could mean someone who is friends, but
not intentionally, ie: perhaps people who are conscripted into a
situation where they are forced to be communal. (Thanks to Anna Zaytseva
for the idiomatic help!)
