maybe. who knows? It's exciting that this thing is taking shape in
front of our eyes on a daily basis, though.

There's basically 3 things the wiki does at the moment: 1) straight up
reference (what was the Chicago World's Fair and when did it happen?),
2) connections to other Pynchon novels ("single up all lines" also
appears on these pages of GR and V., "entropy" was a major theme in
GR, etc), and 3) interpretation.

So far the Pynchon wiki is overwhelmingly comprised of #1 and #2.

You're right that #3 creates the biggest potential for BS, but that's
also what distinguishes the Pynchon Wiki from Wikipedia-- it could
create a vast repository for many interpretations-- some solid, some
half-baked, no doubt-- but that's what makes this experiment exciting.
Will we need to create guidelines to keep the BS in check, and if so,
what kind?

I also note that the Pynchon wiki has two primary forebears: Tim
Ware's guides at Thomaspynchon.com and the Queen Loana Wiki created by
The Modern Word: http://queenloana.wikispaces.com/. Glancing at those,
do you see a ton of BS?
