i'm figuring Pynchon doubts many will finish the book or that it will sell a
whole lot, so why bother with the pr campaign.
an author known for being difficult, comes out with a beast from 1120
fathoms--how do you market such a thing? you don't. Pynchon can rely on a
core of idiots like us (said lovingly) to go out a devour the thing.
now, if someone like David K. doesn't get a copy then I'm wondering, too...
