NP: The Road

I haven't read _Blood Meridian_ (though by all of my friends' accounts I
really should), but I found _The Road_ deeply affecting. I do believe there
is a kind of restrained poetry at work here, but what leaps out at me is
(start groaning) its politics/ethics. This novel was the most powerful call
to act morally that I have ever read. I think it's because it doesn't
ignore the massive ocean of pure pragmatic/self-serving/survivalist
thinking, but invites you to reflect on it and just stew in it for a whole
novel's length, until the scene with the thief at the beach, which I
consider to be its climax.

I don't know, I'm not trying to convince anyone of this novel's worth,
because I'm content with how it hit me, personally, but fellow P-listers:
will _Blood Meridian_ knock me on my ass?
