I haven't seen PE but I'd guess the problem with the film is that
you can't make a film out of a completely visual children's book that
works more like a slide show. The artist in question is one of the
biggest names in the biz and deserves it...but I doubt that his
'thing' translates very well to film. He has an amazing moody
alphabet book that has to be seen to be believed., Chris van Allsburg
by name.
I've really enjoyed (with my son) all the new children's animation
that's out since Toy Story. Monster House was very good this summer
as well as Over the Hedge and Open Season.
