Lots of the Bible in Pynchon, one way or another. 

The NT can be offensive to Jewish readers, not
surprising when you consider that one or more of the
Gospel writers seem to have written polemically
against Jews who didn't accept Jesus as the Messiah.
It's probably a good idea to supplement a reading of
the NT to help put it in context - Crossan's Birth of
Christianity (I think that's the title) is good.
