Got my copy in the mail today, so that's the novel
I'll read from now until Against the Day, along with a
couple of hundred thousand French readers, I guess.
905 pages.

I didn't realize I have such a fetish for the
Gallimard cream-colored paperback, with the title in
fat red. 

I'm guessing Jonathan Littell may be proud of his
accomplisment - first novel, written in French, the
hit of the literary season.  Feels like fun, too, with
a seductive first person narrative voice. Or maybe
that's just the romance of ze French.
