An obvious nod

I haven't reached that place yet, but I do know about this flagrantly 
blatant kowtow (I have a thesaurus) which is not at all surprising. As 
Umberto Eco explained the presence of Borges-like character in The Name of 
the Rose "because debts must be paid".
