An interesting and chilling thing happened at an early U.S.  
production of the  play (Arena Stage in DC, the great Alan Schneider  
directing) when, in the middle of the performance, a poor man in the  
audience had some kind of seizure. All I can really remember now is  
the words of the play stopping in mid-sentence and the actor (Krapp)  
going motionless there in front of the recorder on the semi-darkened  
stage, and remaining so, until after what seemed like quite a long  
time while the afflicted person was being walked or carried from the  
theater, the words of the play (either Krapp's or his  tape's )  
could  continue where they had left off.
