Again, truly, what is gained by your sort of idolatry?  How can one gain any 
insight into what is good in Pynchon if one refuses to acknowledge that 
there's anything even to be criticized?  You've stuffed yourself into a tautology:  
the book's great because Pynchon wrote it; Pynchon's great because look how 
great the book is.  (Decided before reading it.)  

You're by far the worst example, but this sort of thinking pervades this list 
and it serves no one.  And it drives me nuts.
