This is completely out of line.  Listen, Doug,
everyone, y'all know I love y'all, but when I say the
new novel is all I have, I'm serious as as the heart
attack I thought--I HOPED, even--I was having
yesterday.  I've been through enough irrational
bullshit in the past couple days/couple hours alone
out here in the, if not necessarily real by
contradistinction, real by virtue of not being virtual
world ...

I've just made my statement on the archives, so,
instead, I'm going to issue a challenge.  Find me that
post from a while back here about that German
(teevee?) movie that borrowed plot elements, maybe
character names, even, from teh Crying of Lot 49. 
Count how many pages, inc. search pages, you had to go
through to get to it.  Let me know.  Thanks ...
